Your Mission:

Responsible for overseeing safety programs, including planning, communication, training, and monitoring to ensure the safety of all distribution personnel and visitors from physical hazards. Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, and handle all reporting requirements. Assist management with developing and executing training programs and action plans. Design, implement, and monitor policies and procedures to detect and minimize internal theft under the Director of Security. Handle confidential information with autonomy and discretion.

How You’ll Make an Impact:

  1. Develop tactical plans aligned with safety/security and business strategies.
  2. Ensure compliance with industry regulations such as OSHA, EPA, NDPA, LEPC, and SARA/SARA III, and communicate changes effectively.
  3. Investigate compliance issues, document findings, and recommend preventative measures.
  4. Coordinate with regulatory agencies and serve as the point of contact during inspections and violations.
  5. Lead safety programs including Ammonia Safety, Lock-out-Tag-out, Confined Space, and others.
  6. Develop performance metrics, track safety trends, and report findings.
  7. Promote a safety culture focused on injury prevention.
  8. Facilitate training for colleagues, supervisors, and new hires, ensuring documentation and compliance.
  9. Maintain safety records, analyze data, and produce reports.
  10. Design policies to minimize internal theft.
  11. Communicate safety and security information effectively across the organization.
  12. Maintain accessible safety documentation and participate in cross-functional teams.
  13. Perform other related functions as needed.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Science, Engineering, Business Security Management, or Criminal Justice.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in food service distribution, loss prevention, safety management, or public safety enforcement.
  • Deep knowledge of regulatory agencies and compliance, including OSHA, EPA, NDPA, LEPC, SARA/SARA III.
  • Experience managing inspections, violations, and corrective actions.
  • Experience with safety analysis, accident prevention, and investigations.
  • Proficient in developing and delivering training programs.
  • Knowledge of security systems installation and removal.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to train technical information effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and analytical tools.
  • Ability to work weekends and non-traditional hours.
  • Safety Professional Certification (CSP) preferred.
  • Knowledge of DSD delivery, food security, and GFSI auditing beneficial.
  • Proficiency in additional languages, especially Spanish, is a plus.

Where You’ll Work:

  • Extensive travel (up to 75%) and availability for emergency contact 24/7.
  • Exposure to plant conditions, including temperature and noise.
  • Work hours include weekends and non-traditional schedules as needed.
