Job summary

Pretium Packaging in Saint Charles, Illinois, is seeking a hands-on Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to lead safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental programs at our on-site plant.

The role partners with operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership to ensure safe work practices, reduce risk, and strengthen safety culture across the facility. Bilingual Spanish speakers are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing.
• Experience in plastics or injection molding manufacturing preferred.
• OSHA 30 Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Job Overview:

We are seeking a hands-on Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to support safety, compliance, and environmental programs within a dynamic manufacturing environment. In this role, you will be a partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams to ensure safe work practices, reduce risk, and strengthen safety culture across the facility.

This is a position where you can lead safety initiatives, influence culture, and make a real impact.

What You'll Do:

Safety & Regulatory Compliance:

• Drive a proactive, behavior-based safety culture where safety comes before production
• Lead safety programs, audits, investigations, and corrective actions
• Develop and deliver safety training, onboarding, and continuous education programs
• Maintain OSHA logs (300, 301, etc.) and ensure compliance with all regulatory updates
• Coach leaders and employees to improve safety awareness, engagement, and accountability
• Build and lead safety committees and cross-functional teams
• Lead all environmental compliance efforts including air, wastewater, stormwater, and waste programs
• Manage permits, reporting, and regulatory submissions with state and federal agencies
• Analyze environmental data (emissions, water, soil, etc.) and identify improvement opportunities
• Partner with engineering and operations on environmental projects and pollution reduction initiatives
• Serve as the primary point of contact with regulatory agencies and external partners
• Oversee onsite wastewater systems, waste classification, and documentation

Safety Training & Culture:

• Deliver safety training including:
  • Lockout/Tagout
  • PPE and hazard communication
  • Machine guarding
  • Ergonomics and emergency response
• Engage employees in safety initiatives, committees, and continuous improvement efforts

Risk Reduction & Continuous Improvement:

• Partner with operations to identify hazards associated with:
  • Plastics processing equipment
  • Robotics and automation
  • Compressed air systems
  • Material handling and resins
• Support implementation of engineering and administrative safety controls
• Track safety metrics and support improvement initiatives
• Assist with emergency response planning including:
  • Fire safety
  • Evacuation procedures
  • Spill response
  • Medical emergency coordination
• Support drills and emergency response teams

You will Be a Good Fit If You Have:

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field preferred
• 5+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing
• Experience in plastics, injection molding, blow molding, or industrial manufacturing is strongly preferred
• OSHA 30 Certification preferred

Certifications (Preferred):

• CHST, ASP, or other professional safety certification
• First Aid / CPR / AED

Key Skills:

• Strong knowledge of OSHA and environmental compliance
• Experience investigating incidents and performing root cause analysis
• Ability to influence employees and leadership to drive safe work practices
• Strong documentation and organizational skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
