Job summary

Pretium Packaging, L.L.C. in St. Charles, Illinois seeks an on-site SHE leader to drive safety, health and environmental excellence. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field preferred
• 5+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing
• Experience with plastics/manufacturing safe practices preferred
• OSHA 30 preferred

A Day in the Role

You'll start by reviewing prior-shift safety events and metrics, then walk the floor to engage teams at molding cells, robotics stations, and material handling areas. Your morning might include a lockout/tagout refresher with a new hire group, followed by closing out an incident investigation and updating OSHA logs. In the afternoon, you could collaborate with engineering on air emissions tracking, submit environmental reports, and convene the safety committee to prioritize corrective actions and cultural initiatives.

What You'll Lead

• Champion a behavior-based safety culture where safety precedes production.
• Own site safety programs, audits, investigations, and corrective/preventive actions.
• Develop and deliver training for onboarding and ongoing education.
• Maintain OSHA recordkeeping (e.g., 300, 301) and stay current with regulatory updates.
• Coach leaders and team members to build awareness, engagement, and accountability.
• Build and facilitate safety committees and cross-functional teams.

Environmental Stewardship

• Lead compliance for air, wastewater, stormwater, and solid/hazardous waste programs.
• Manage permits, reporting, and submissions with state and federal agencies.
• Analyze environmental data (emissions, water, soil) to spot trends and improvements.
• Partner with engineering and operations on pollution reduction projects.
• Serve as the primary contact for regulators and external partners.
• Oversee onsite wastewater systems, waste classification, and required documentation.

Training, Culture, and Readiness

• Deliver training on lockout/tagout, PPE and hazard communication, machine guarding, ergonomics, and emergency response.
• Engage employees through committees and continuous improvement activities.
• Identify hazards on plastics processing equipment, robotics and automation, compressed air, and material handling/resins.
• Implement engineering and administrative controls and track key safety metrics.
• Support emergency planning: fire safety, evacuation, spill response, and medical events; lead drills and response teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
• 5+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing.
• Background in plastics, injection molding, blow molding, or industrial manufacturing (strongly preferred).
• OSHA 30 preferred.

Certifications & Skills

• Preferred certifications: CHST, ASP, First Aid/CPR/AED.
• Deep knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations.
• Incident investigation and root cause analysis expertise.
• Influential communicator with strong documentation and organizational skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Spanish fluency preferred.
