Job summary

Pretium Packaging in St. Louis, MO is seeking a hands-on Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to partner with operations, maintenance, engineering and leadership to ensure safe work practices, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across the facility.

You will lead safety initiatives, deliver training, conduct audits, manage OSHA logs, and drive a proactive safety culture that empowers employees to identify risks and improve processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in EH&S or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing.
• Experience in plastics, injection molding, blow molding, or industrial manufacturing preferred.
• OSHA 30 Certification preferred.
• CHST, ASP, or other professional safety certification recommended.
• First Aid / CPR / AED may be preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain the EHS program in accordance with OSHA and environmental regulations.
• Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across manufacturing operations.
• Investigate incidents and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain OSHA logs, safety documentation, and compliance records.
• Report issues to plant leadership and propose corrective actions.
• Support environmental programs including waste management, emissions, stormwater, and chemical handling.
• Deliver safety training (Lockout/Tagout, PPE, hazard communication, ergonomics, emergency response).
• Partner with operations to identify hazards and implement safety controls; track safety metrics.

Job Overview:

We are seeking ahands-on Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Managerto support safety, compliance, and environmental programs within a dynamic manufacturing environment. In this role, you will be a partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams to ensure safe work practices, reduce risk, and strengthen safety culture across the facility.

What You’ll Do:

Safety & Regulatory Compliance:

• Support and maintain the Pretium Packaging EHS program in compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations
• Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across manufacturing operations
• Investigate incidents, injuries, and near misses to determine root cause and implement corrective actions
• Maintain OSHA logs, safety documentation, and compliance records
• Report current/potential issues to the plant leadership and provide potential solutions
• Support environmental programs including waste management, emissions, stormwater, and chemical handling
• Monitor hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling and storage
• Assist with environmental inspections and regulatory reporting

Safety Training & Culture:

• Deliver safety training including:
• Lockout/Tagout
• PPE and hazard communication
• Ergonomics and emergency response
• Engage employees in safety initiatives, committees, and continuous improvement efforts

Risk Reduction & Continuous Improvement:

• Partner with operations to identify hazards associated with:
• Plastics processing equipment
• Robotics and automation
• Compressed air systems
• Material handling and resins
• Support implementation of engineering and administrative safety controls
• Track safety metrics and support improvement initiatives
• Assist with emergency response planning including:
• Spill response
• Medical emergency coordination
• Support drills and emergency response teams

You will Be a Good Fit If You Have:

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree inEnvironmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related fieldpreferred
• 5+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing
• Experience inplastics, injection molding, blow molding, or industrial manufacturingis strongly preferred
• OSHA 30 Certification preferred

Certifications (Preferred):

• CHST, ASP, or other professional safety certification
• First Aid / CPR / AED

Key Skills:

• English, bilingual… the ability to speak Spanish is a plus
• Strong knowledge of OSHA and environmental compliance
• Experience investigating incidents and performing root cause analysis
• Ability to influence employees and leadership to drive safe work practices
• Strong documentation and organizational skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
