Job Description

With over 50 years of experience in the recycling industry, and as one of the world’s largest recyclers of electronic scrap, we are seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator for our San Jose Recycling Facility. You will be involved in implementing the organization’s environmental programs to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Specific duties include:

• Prepare environmental reports, permit renewals, and modifications for agencies such as DTSC, BAAQMD, Regional Water Quality Control Board, City, and County.
• Maintain our ISO 14001 certified environmental program and Health and Safety programs based on the same model.
• Develop and implement new programs to meet continuous improvement goals and ensure compliance with regulations and corporate guidelines.
• Track, evaluate, and maintain records related to environmental compliance, including training, hazmat, safety inspections, and hazardous waste manifests.
• Ensure that all fatal hazards are well managed and controlled in San Jose.
• Evaluate new incoming material streams for compatibility with permits and safety programs.
• Oversee and participate in the collection of environmental and industrial hygiene samples.
• Develop and prepare training materials related to environmental compliance.

• Represent the company before regulators, customers, and industry associations.
• Serve as a member of the on-site emergency response team.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
• 3-5 years of experience in an Environmental Health and Safety role
• Strong knowledge of OSHA and Hazardous Waste Regulations
• Excellent communication skills and a stable work history
• Ability to work autonomously to identify and solve problems
• Excellent computer, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
