Qualifications

A client of ours is seeking an Environmental Field Technician to support sewer flow monitoring and data-collection operations throughout the Houston metropolitan area.

This is a hands-on outdoor position involving the installation and maintenance of monitoring equipment, confined-space work, travel to project sites, and physically demanding field assignments. The selected candidate will work as the second member of a field crew and receive the training and certifications required for the position.

Pay:Approximately $23.00 per hour

Location:Houston metropolitan area

Employment Type:Full-time, temp-to-hire

Travel:Periodic travel throughout Texas, including Austin and San Antonio

Reports To:Field Supervisor or Field Manager

Key Responsibilities
Field Operations
  • Install flow and level monitors inside underground sewer lines.
  • Install rainfall-monitoring equipment.
  • Calibrate flow-monitoring equipment.
  • Collect sewer flow, level, and rainfall data and review it for accuracy.
  • Operate and maintain flow monitors, level monitors, and rainfall gauges.
  • Drive company vehicles to and from project sites under standard and non-standard driving conditions.
  • Travel and work overtime as required.
Safety and Equipment
  • Serve as a topside confined-space attendant and assist with rescue operations when necessary.
  • Perform permit-required confined-space entry.
  • Set up standard traffic-control work zones in high-density traffic conditions.
  • Climb ladders and work at heights while using harnesses, fall-protection equipment, and other required safety devices.
  • Inspect and maintain vehicles and field equipment to support safe and productive operations.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Complete all required internal and external training and certifications.
  • Help maintain a strong and safety-focused work environment.
Documentation and Team Support
  • Maintain accurate, legible, and organized field records.
  • Work effectively as the second person on a field crew.
  • Complete required safety and flow-monitoring training modules.
  • Meet daily productivity expectations while working as part of a team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to successfully complete a background check and drug screening.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Willingness to travel and work in the physical conditions present within sewer systems.
  • Ability to complete multiple confined-space entries and remain in confined spaces for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, twist, pull, lift, and carry up to 60 pounds.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding non-entry vertical rescue operations when necessary.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work safely at heights.
  • Manual dexterity and basic mechanical ability.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively with a field crew and meet daily productivity goals.
  • Commitment to following established safety procedures.
