Job summary

The Morris P. Hebert, LLC Environmental Technician position is based in Houston, TX, supporting Phase I ESAs, stormwater compliance, and general environmental services. The role blends field reconnaissance with office documentation to ensure regulatory standards are met.

You will collect data, prepare reports, and travel to project sites as needed, working a flex schedule while meeting deadlines and maintaining accurate records. Proficiency in MS Office and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Biology, Geology, Natural Resources, or related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Phase I ESAs: conduct site reconnaissance, collect data, evaluate historical records, document site conditions, assist with Phase I ESA reports.
  • Stormwater Compliance: perform inspections, develop and maintain SWPPPs, monitor regulations, prepare inspection reports and corrective actions.
  • General Environmental Services: conduct field sampling and monitoring, maintain records, prepare regulatory submittals, support permitting and travel to sites as required.

Position Summary

The role of the Environmental Technician is to support environmental compliance activities. This position combines both field and office responsibilities.

Work Schedule

Flex schedule: Nominal 9 hours Monday through Thursday; 4 hours on Friday. Overtime may be required on short notice to meet project deadlines.

Key Responsibilities
Phase I Environmental Site Assessments
  • Conduct site reconnaissance and field inspections for Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs).
  • Gather and evaluate environmental data, historical records, aerial photographs, and regulatory databases.
  • Document site conditions through observations, photographs, and field notes.
  • Assist with preparing Phase I ESA reports in accordance with ASTM standards.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to project managers and clients.
Stormwater Compliance
  • Perform stormwater inspections.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs).
  • Monitor compliance with local, state, and federal stormwater regulations.
  • Prepare inspection reports and corrective action documentation.
  • Coordinate with clients and contractors regarding stormwater compliance requirements.
General Environmental Services
  • Conduct field sampling and environmental monitoring as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records, field logs, and documentation.
  • Prepare technical reports and regulatory submittals.
  • Support environmental permitting and compliance projects.
  • Travel to project sites as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Geology, Natural Resources, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
