Job description

Direct message the job poster from Sea & Shoreline

At Sea & Shoreline, we are dedicated to preserving and restoring unique aquatic ecosystems. As a leading full-service aquatic restoration firm, we specialize in seagrass and habitat restoration projects that improve water quality and support biodiversity. With over a decade of experience, we’ve planted more seagrass than any other company worldwide. Our team’s deep passion for sustainability drives every project, fostering a healthier environment and a better future for marine species and communities. We are committed to making a lasting, positive impact on the natural world.

Job Overview

If your idea of an office includes trailering a boat at sunrise, fixing gear with zip ties and elbow grease, and restoring Florida’s waterways alongside a team that gets it done, this might be your next role.

Whether you studied marine science or grew up fixing gear and hauling trailers, we care about how you work, not just how you got here.

  • You know your way around tools, trucks, and boats.
  • You’ve spent more time in fins than in dress shoes.
  • You’ve figured things out without a manual—more than once.
  • You use tech when it makes things easier—because more efficiency means more time doing what matters.

Location and Travel

If you love being on the move, this role delivers. We work across Florida, from the Keys to the Panhandle and everywhere in between. Expect to travel regularly with your team, sometimes staying on-site for up to four nights a week. Mileage and per diem are fully covered. Reliable transportation is required, and a willingness to embrace the adventure of fieldwork is key.

Physical Requirements

This job is physically demanding—but if you’re up for it, it’s also incredibly rewarding. You’ll spend long days outdoors in Florida’s heat, humidity, and sometimes unpredictable weather. You should:

  • Be comfortable working in and around saltwater, freshwater, and low-visibility conditions.
  • Be a strong swimmer—SCUBA certification is a plus
  • Be comfortable handling boats and trailers (or be eager to learn).
  • Be able to lift and carry up to 60 lbs—restoration work involves hauling, prepping, and keeping things running smoothly in the field.

What You Do

  • Restore Habitats: Plant seagrass and aquatic vegetation. Get wet. Get muddy. Make a real impact.
  • Fix and Repair: No manual? No problem. You’ll troubleshoot and solve issues as they come—sometimes on the fly.
  • Prioritize Safety: Follow protocols, handle equipment properly, and keep yourself and your team safe.
  • Support the Team: Collaborate with biologists, project managers, and other techs to get the job done.
  • Care for Aquatic Plants: Help grow and maintain the plants used in restoration projects.
  • Adapt to the Unexpected: Weather shifts, gear breaks, schedules change—you stay flexible and focused.
  • Grow Your Skills: Learn new tools, cross-train, and step into more responsibility over time.

Who You Are

  • Swiss Army Knife: You bring a range of hands-on skills. You’re McGyver meets marine tech.
  • Adventure-Ready: You don’t shy away from long days, tough terrain, or unpredictable conditions.
  • Team-Oriented: You’ve got your crew’s back—and they’ve got yours.
  • Action-Minded Thinker: When things go sideways, you stay calm and find a solution.
  • Detail-Focused: You notice what others miss—because those small details matter.
  • Safety-Conscious: You follow safety protocols and are (or are willing to be) CPR + First Aid certified.

Bonus Points

  • CDL (Commercial Driver’s License)
  • ProCore or other project management software experience
  • Familiarity with Florida’s ecosystems and aquatic plants
  • Certifications or interest in SCUBA, OSHA, or boat operation

What We Provide

  • Competitive hourly wage with opportunities for overtime.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Paid Time Off (PTO), holidays, and disability insurance.
  • Professional development and training opportunities.

At Sea & Shoreline, we value the contributions of every team member and are dedicated to supporting your growth, both professionally and personally.
