Clean Harbors, Inc. in Dolton, IL is seeking an Environmental Field Laborer to join our safety-conscious team. This role will perform hazardous waste cleanup, site remediation, and equipment decontamination while handling hazardous materials.

Starting at $20 per hour with full-time hours, the role requires a valid driver’s license, readiness for on-call emergency response, and training. Academy training is provided out of state, with expenses paid by the company.

Qualifications

• Must have valid driver’s license.
• Able to perform strenuous physical labor.
• Emergency response availability, may involve 12–24 hour shifts.
• Successfully complete a background check, drug test and physical.
• Facial hair standards per OSHA respirator requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and always acting in a safe manner.
• Engage in strenuous physical labor including lifting and pulling heavy objects.
• Operate light and heavy equipment, handle various hand tools and powered industrial tools, work with vibration-producing tools.
• Wear and properly use a variety of personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators and skin protection.
• Work in various temperatures indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Work in atmospheres with potential exposure to chemicals and hazards.
• Work at elevations including ladders and scaffolding.
• Assist in field sampling activities and calibration of meters.
• Climb ladders, scaffolding and into/out of trucks and tanks.
• Work extended >8 hour periods and attend safety updates.
• Inspect drums for integrity and regulatory compliance.
• Safe loading/unloading of waste; conduct waste stream sampling as needed.
• Follow local, state, and federal regulations; operate vehicles per DOT rules.
• Observe company environmental health and safety guidelines.
• Perform other duties; be on-call for emergency response on rotating basis.
• Site remediation, equipment decontamination, and handling of hazardous materials.
