Job summary

ERM seeks a Consultant, Environmental Engineer, Geologist, or Scientist in Manhattan to lead field investigations and deliver compliant, high-quality environmental solutions for clients across the U.S. You will work with a global technical network and apply cutting-edge methods to protect ecosystems and support sustainable development.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, 2+ years of experience, and a willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or Engineering (or equivalent).
• 2+ years of relevant environmental consulting experience.
• Familiarity with field geology, hydrogeology, soil/rock description, groundwater flow, and aquifer behavior.
• Commitment to safety and Health & Safety protocols.
• Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Ability to travel frequently across a large geographic area.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field investigations: soil, water, air, and dust sampling; remedial pilot tests; construction support; and system O&M.
• Log soil and rock cores; prepare boring logs, geologic cross sections, and well construction diagrams.
• Oversee drilling and monitoring well installation, development, and abandonment, including permitting and subcontractor oversight.
• Coordinate field activities and subcontractors: drilling, geophysics, surveying, lab services, equipment calibration and maintenance.
• Compile and analyze environmental data; assist in technical report preparation.
• Support development of compliance plans, permits, and reports for air quality, hazardous waste, stormwater, and wastewater.
• Execute Phase I & II site assessments for property transactions.
• Ensure regulatory compliance across federal, state, and local requirements.
• Communicate effectively with subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and clients during field activities.
• Deliver projects within scope, budget, and schedule expectations.
