Job summary

PCI Environmental is seeking an Environmental Field Scientist / Geologist / Engineer to support environmental investigation, remediation, monitoring, and compliance for Federal, State, and commercial clients. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology, geological sciences, civil engineering, environmental engineering, environmental science, or a closely related natural science or engineering discipline.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to approximately 70% of the time, including extended field mobilizations and irregular hours based on project requirements.
  • Zero to five years of relevant experience in environmental investigation, characterization, remediation, compliance, construction monitoring, or related field activities.
  • Ability to perform physical fieldwork in outdoor environments and varying weather and site conditions.
  • Ability to work independently in the field and collaboratively with project teams.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Attention to safety, data quality, technical accuracy, and procedural compliance.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to obtain OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER, First Aid, and CPR certifications.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear field documentation and contribute to technical reports.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Perform environmental field activities, including soil logging, groundwater monitoring, air monitoring, and the collection of soil, groundwater, sediment, surface water, and other environmental samples.
  • Experience with sampling for PFAS will be considered favorably
  • Support or oversee drilling activities, soil borings, and monitoring well installation and development.
  • Perform field measurements, maintain accurate field documentation, and prepare sample documentation and chain-of-custody records.
  • Conduct or support environmental site assessments, remedial investigations, long-term monitoring events, land use control inspections, and remediation activities.
  • Assist with operation, inspection, monitoring, and maintenance of environmental treatment and remediation systems.
  • Monitor construction, investigation, or remediation activities and document compliance with applicable project requirements and permits.
  • Support investigation-derived waste characterization, management, sampling, and disposal activities.
  • Assist project managers and technical staff with subcontractor coordination, schedule tracking, project documentation, proposals, and client deliverables.
  • Communicate field conditions, deviations, safety concerns, and technical findings promptly to project leadership.
  • Follow project-specific quality, health and safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Compile, organize, and evaluate field observations, analytical results, and environmental data.
  • Assist with planning field events, including preparing sampling plans, access agreements, field forms, and mobilization documentation.
  • Prepare figures, tables, appendices, field summaries, and technical report sections.
  • Travel and field work may be required on various projects in the US and internationally, with travel up to 70% of the time with field mobilizations averaging 2-3 weeks.

Position Summary

PCI Environmental is seeking an Environmental Field Scientist / Geologist / Engineer to support environmental investigation, remediation, monitoring, and compliance projects for Federal, State, and commercial clients. This is an entry-level to early-career position intended for a technically qualified individual who is comfortable performing frequent fieldwork and extended travel while also supporting field planning, data evaluation, technical reporting, and deliverable review when working in the office.

The position will support field sampling, site investigations, drilling and monitoring well installation, remediation system operations and maintenance, construction or remediation oversight, and environmental compliance monitoring. Between field assignments, the employee will assist project teams with preparing sampling plans, organizing and evaluating field and laboratory data, writing report sections, reviewing technical deliverables, and planning future field events.

Physical Requirements

If required, employees must be able to operate a motor vehicle which may require sitting for prolonged periods of time to visit other company sites. This position may require an employee to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance, reach, push, and pull. The employee may also be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
