Job summary

TRC is seeking highly motivated Environmental Interns for a paid Summer 2027 program in our West Allis, WI office. The role pairs fieldwork with desk tasks, including wetlands work, data collection, and reporting under supervision of project managers and engineers.

The position runs June–August 2027 with a potential transition to full-time after graduation. Applicants should be pursuing relevant natural resource degrees, have a GPA of 3.0+, and be comfortable working outdoors in varied

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Pursuing a Bachelor or Associate Degree in Natural Resource Ecology and Management; Environmental Science; Environmental Biology or related field.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Comfort in the outdoors and ability to maintain a positive attitude during year‑round field work in varied weather.
• Excellent communication, writing, and data collection skills; detail oriented and proactive.
• Strong data collection, technical writing and communication skills.
• Collaborative, organized, self‑motivated, detail oriented.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Earth.
• Honest, hardworking and eager to learn.
• Interest in Ecology, environmental science, biology, botany, wetlands.
• Self-starter with good word processing skills.
• Work outside in challenging conditions, hiking on uneven terrain carrying ~20 lbs of gear.

Responsibilities

• Office tasks and field tasks will vary with workload and active projects.
• Draft wetland delineation reports; prepare for field work; desktop reviews for wetlands, waterways, and threatened/endangered species; IPaC submissions; desktop analyses.
• Assist with wetland delineations, wildlife and plant surveys, and other fieldwork; document research and field investigations.
• Perform water quality sampling, vegetation mapping, or brownfield fieldwork; support field leads and deployments.
• Support environmental permitting and compliance projects.
• Other tasks as necessary.
