Job summary

Ahtna, Inc. seeks a licensed and experienced engineer for a full-time role in Fairbanks, AK. The position involves active fieldwork across contaminated site characterization, monitoring, and remediation, with periodic travel to remote sites and office tasks such as planning and reporting.

At levels I–Senior, responsibilities include project support, field oversight, and technical mentoring. A valid Alaska PE and strong MS Office skills are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required.
• US Citizen status required.
• Level I–Senior years of experience as defined in the job description.
• Professional Engineer Registration in Alaska preferred.
• Ability to pass background checks and drive a company vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Conduct contaminated site characterization, monitoring, and remediation field assessments.
• Travel to field sites by aircraft, vehicle, or boat for fieldwork and meetings.
• Perform field screening and sampling of contaminants in multiple media.
• Design and operate remediation and treatment systems such as air sparge and soil vapor extraction.
• Document field operations with notes, photos, and reports; communicate with project managers.
• Oversee subcontractors and ensure safety, schedule, and budget compliance.
• Assist or lead proposal development, planning documents, and technical reports.
