Job summary

Republic Services in the United States seeks an Environmental Field Chemist I to join our team, working both indoors and outdoors at customer sites. You will help ensure safety, properly package materials per regulations, and maintain updated documentation for hazardous, non-hazardous, and universal waste removal services.

Responsibilities include waste collection, labeling, and shipping documentation, with on-site support at customer locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in chemistry or environmental science.
• Knowledge of Federal and State environmental and transportation regulations (DOT/RCRA preferred).
• Ability to perform proper waste sampling, characterization, and profiling.
• Strong communication skills to read and interpret procedures and regulations.
• Positive attitude and professionalism when interacting with customers and team members.
• Willingness to travel to customer locations.
• HAVZWOPER 40-hour certification (or ability to pass within hiring)

Responsibilities

• Collect, characterize and package customer waste for final disposal.
• Safely transport customer waste in compliance with Federal regulations.
• Assist with customer paperwork: packing lists, waste labels, shipping documents.
• Provide onsite support at customer locations (inspections, waste collection, inventory).
• Collaborate to identify contents via field screens and tests.
