Job summary

Mewbourne Oil Company, a leading independent oil and gas company, invites you to join the Environmental Engineering Intern program for Summer 2027 in Hobbs, NM. This internship offers hands-on experience in environmental compliance, emissions management, and regulatory reporting across operations in the Anadarko and Permian Basins.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with environmental compliance projects related to air, waste, spill prevention, and emissions management programs.
  • Gain exposure to federal, state, and local environmental regulations affecting oil and gas operations.
  • Support the collection, organization, and analysis of data related to emissions inventories and compliance reporting.
  • Assist with regulatory filings, environmental reports, permits, and compliance documentation.
  • Learn about environmental programs and regulatory requirements, including greenhouse gas reporting and air compliance initiatives.
  • Participate in field visits to production facilities and development locations to observe environmental practices and compliance efforts.
  • Collaborate with Environmental, Operations, Engineering, HSE, and other business functions to understand the integration of environmental stewardship and operational objectives.
  • Assist with environmental audits, inspections, incident reviews, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Research regulatory developments and industry best practices related to environmental compliance.
  • Complete a summer project and present findings and recommendations to company leadership.

As an Environmental Intern at Mewbourne Oil Company, you will gain hands‑on experience supporting environmental compliance and stewardship efforts across a leading independent oil and gas company. This immersive internship provides direct exposure to environmental regulations, emissions management, permitting processes, compliance reporting, and field operations within the Anadarko and Permian Basins.

Interns work alongside experienced environmental professionals, operations personnel, engineers, and regulatory specialists to develop a comprehensive understanding of environmental programs that support responsible oil and gas development. Through project‑based assignments, field visits, mentorship, and cross‑functional collaboration, interns will gain practical experience with environmental compliance obligations while learning how environmental initiatives are integrated into daily operations.
