Job summary

SCS Engineers is seeking a Summer 2027 intern for our San Diego, CA office. The internship offers hands-on experience in technical engineering and business operations through diverse client projects, and paths to explore your career. You’ll work on solid waste projects, design support for landfills and gas systems, and permitting, with field days included.

Interns typically work 40 hours per week in our San Diego office. Housing is not provided.

Qualifications

Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering and graduating by June 2029.
Willing to live in the San Diego area for Summer 2027 (housing not provided).
Solid technical and computer skills; AutoCAD experience is a plus.
Desire to pursue consulting and professional licensure after graduation.
Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Responsibilities

Assist project teams with drilling activities, borehole logging, well construction, monitoring, and sampling.
Conduct QA observations and inspections for conformity with design plans and specs.
Compile data and help prepare reports (environmental site assessments, emissions, groundwater/soil investigations).
Prepare permit applications and regulatory submittals with supporting documents.
Compile data and perform basic calculations to support design documents or studies.
Environmental and construction materials sampling; laboratory data management and review; surveying; CAD drafting.
