Job summary

SCS Engineers in Tampa is seeking an entry-level engineer to join our solid waste practice, providing engineering and design support to private and municipal clients. The role offers hands-on field and office work with mentoring and training.

You will contribute to landfill, LFG, wastewater, and stormwater projects, prepare permit applications, collect samples, oversee drilling, and perform QA/QC while collaborating with GIS/CAD drafters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in civil, environmental, biosystems, or geotechnical engineering.
• Minimum 3 months internship/work/research in solid waste or environmental engineering.
• Ability to learn AutoCAD or comparable software.
• Local field work 10-20% with the remainder in our Tampa office.
• FE exam preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with good standing.

Responsibilities

• Perform landfill, landfill gas collection and control system, industrial wastewater and stormwater permitting and design with plans and documents.
• Prepare permit applications and regulatory submittals with supporting documentation.
• Collect samples from hazardous and non-hazardous sites.
• Oversee drilling activities, monitoring wells, borehole logging, and sampling.
• Conduct QA/QC reviews on reports, plans, calculations and data.
• Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors and clients with project manager support.
• Communicate with technical professionals to achieve client goals.
• Collaborate with GIS/CAD drafters for design plans and figures; use AutoCAD or ArcGIS for design work.
• Prepare calculations and engineering analysis for design documents and reports.
