Job summary

Rio Tinto Kennecott in Salt Lake City, Utah offers a 3-month Environmental Engineering internship on site. You will collaborate with environmental engineers, hydrogeologists, geochemists and regulatory specialists to identify risks, support remediation and monitor water quality.

Ideal candidates are current students with at least one year in related fields, showing leadership, initiative and strong communication; eligible to work in the United States with a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• At least one year completed in Environmental Sciences or related field.
• Leadership, eagerness to learn and ability to work independently with guidance.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Eligible to work in the United States with a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Identify and manage environmental and sustainability risks through proactive initiatives and investigations.
• Support remediation, closure and sustainability projects across a major open-pit operation.
• Assist with groundwater, surface water, soil and sediment monitoring, sampling, data management and interpretation.
• Contribute to water treatment and remediation projects protecting water quality.
• Participate in wetlands/ecotoxicology studies and evaluate environmental conditions.
• Analyze environmental data and prepare technical summaries and reports.
