Job summary

Rio Tinto Kennecott offers a 3-month Geotechnical Engineering internship in Salt Lake City, Utah. You will join an open, international team of technical specialists working on rock mechanics, geotechnical monitoring and ground control quality.

You’ll gain exposure to advanced data tools and contribute to a major copper mining operation. Applicants must be enrolled in an American university, have the right to work full-time in the U.S., and possess a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Registered student status at a recognized American university.
• Right to work full-time in the United States and a valid driver’s license.
• At least one year completed in Geotechnical engineering or a related field.
• Strong leadership, eagerness to learn and ability to work in a team.
• Flexibility and autonomy.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering duties connected to rock mechanics.
• Involved in quality assurance and quality control of ground control elements, geotechnical monitoring and identification of ground conditions.
