Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. is offering an Environmental Engineering Intern role in East Chicago, IN, designed to promote environmental excellence and regulatory compliance.

The internship provides hands-on experience across data collection, reporting, and program support within our manufacturing environment. As an intern, you will participate in projects related to the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and RCRA, while gaining exposure to energy efficiency, waste minimization, and ISO 14001 systems.

Qualifications

  • Enrollment in Bachelor of Science program in the field of Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or other related technical degree
  • Completion of at least sophomore year of study by the summer of 2027

Responsibilities

  • Assist with environmental data acquisition, management, and reporting processes supporting adherence to Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act and Resource Conservation & Recovery Act requirements
  • Assist with special projects and environmental investigations supporting environmental compliance with applicable permits and rules
  • Assist with other environmental programs such as energy efficiency, waste minimization, GHG emissions reduction, and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System
  • Various other tasks as needed

Position Overview

As an Environmental Engineering Intern at Cleveland-Cliffs, you will take a hands-on approach to help promote environmental excellence within the organization by supporting company programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. The projects in which an intern will participate will vary, depending on education level and plant, but will model the duties below to the extent possible.
