Job summary
The Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet seeks an Environmental Engineer Supervisor to lead the Division of Water's Industrial Section in Franklin County. You will supervise staff and review permit documents for KPDES and KNDOP programs, providing technical guidance on environmental regulations.
Holders of the position must be licensed as a Professional Engineer, with two years of additional engineering experience; a master’s degree can substitute for one year.
Qualifications
- Must have two years of engineering experience in addition to licensure as a professional engineer.
- Master's degree in engineering substitutes for one year of required experience; beyond a master's substitutes year-for-year.
- Licensure as a professional engineer by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors is required and must be maintained.
Responsibilities
- Supervise a team in the Industrial Section, including leave approvals, timesheets, coaching, and staff evaluations.
- Review draft permit documents for KNDOP and KPDES to ensure compliance with federal/state laws.
- Provide technical assistance regarding environmental statutes and regulations related to KPDES and KNDOP permits.
- Act as an expert witness at hearings regarding permitting programs.
- Represent the Division of Water at meetings and conduct site visits as required.
