Job summary

Commonwealth of Kentucky seeks an Environmental Scientist I in Franklin County to assist in evaluating environmental, mining, natural resources and energy programs under supervision. You will perform entry-level data analysis, reporting, and compliance tasks for public and state agencies.

The position may authorize telecommute; work involves field inspections, several travel requirements, and occasional overtime. A bachelor’s in a natural, biological, or physical science is required.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in natural, biological or physical science or equivalent with 20 semester hours in natural/physical science.
• Experience, training or skills: NONE.
• Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Education can substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis in natural resources, environmental control, engineering or related areas.

Responsibilities

• Provides entry-level assistance in developing and evaluating environmental, mining, natural resource and/or energy programs.
• Under direct supervision oversees, develops, and implements environmental plans or projects for regulatory compliance.
• Conducts field inspections at Waste Tire Collection Events and coordinates with Contractors.
• Attends meetings to learn program procedures and provide information on recycling programs.
• Performs other duties as required.
