Job summary

Commonwealth of Kentucky, Energy & Environment Cabinet, Dept for Environmental Protection in Frankfort, KY, seeks an Environmental Engineer Supervisor in the Municipal Section of the Division of Water to lead a team preparing Kentucky Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (KPDES) permits for publicly owned treatment works.

You will provide technical and scientific assistance on permitting, represent the Division at meetings, and serve as an expert witness when needed, helping ensure compliance

Qualifications

• Must have two years of engineering experience in addition to licensure.
• A master's degree in engineering substitutes for one year of experience.
• Graduate work beyond a master's substitutes on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a team in the Municipal Section, including approving leave requests and evaluating staff.
• Review draft permit documents for KPDES discharge permits for compliance.
• Provide technical assistance on KPDES, Pretreatment, MS4s, and WET programs.
• Represent the Division at meetings and conduct site visits as required.
• Act as an expert witness at hearings regarding the KPDES program.
