Job summary

U.S. Pacific Fleet in Hawaii seeks an experienced environmental program manager to advise on integrating current and upcoming environmental requirements into shipyard processes and procedures.

The role oversees compliance with Federal, state, Navy, and local environmental protections, reviews technical work documents, and represents the command in meetings. Travel may be required to CONUS/OCONUS areas and security clearance is required.

Qualifications

  • Specialized experience managing environmental programs (e.g., RCRA, Hazardous Waste, Non-Hazardous Waste, Used Oil, Spill Response, Industrial Wastewater, Clean Air, Hazardous Materials) by creating and enforcing directives to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Engineering degree or licensure requirements: ABET-accredited program or EI/EIT/PE licensure or FE exam or specialized coursework with professional experience.

Responsibilities

  • Advise management on how to include current and upcoming environmental requirements in processes and procedures.
  • Assess, inspect, monitor, and audit shipyard facilities and operations for compliance with Federal, State, Navy, and local environmental protections.
  • Review technical work documents and process instructions for compliance with environmental policies.
  • Represent the command at internal and external meetings.
  • Serve as the Program Manager for environmental subject matter areas.
