Job summary

WSP USA seeks an Experienced Environmental Engineer for its Portland, Maine office with 3–5 years of experience in environmental remediation, including remedial design of treatment systems and permitting support. The role focuses on delivering engineering evaluations, cost estimates, and design drawings for complex environmental projects.

The position involves collaboration with a large team of design engineers, mentorship of junior staff, and occasional site travel.

Qualifications

• BS in Environmental, Civil or Chemical Engineering required.
• 3+ years of engineering/consulting experience focused on remedial design (water treatment, soil vapor extraction, in-situ remediation).
• Engineer in Training Certification required.
• Strong written and verbal communication, plus interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel to project sites; occasional extended travel up to two weeks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare work plans, sampling and analysis plans, feasibility studies, and remedial action plans.
• Prepare environmental permit applications (air and wastewater permitting).
• Prepare and evaluate CERCLA/RCRA engineering evaluations and treatment system designs with cost estimates.
• Review design drawings and specifications; comment on contractor submittals.
• Track submittals, RFIs, change orders; support construction phase activities.
• Mentor and grow staff within the project teams.
