Job summary

Paces is seeking an Environmental Engineer to join our Solution Engineering & Development team in Brooklyn, NY. You will serve as the internal environmental authority, shaping automated workflows and playbooks for regulatory compliance across projects.

You will collaborate with product and AI teams to translate domain expertise into scalable software. Hybrid work in Williamsburg, NY is available.

Qualifications

• Active PE license with an environmental specialization is required.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in environmental permitting, land-use entitlements, or regulatory due diligence (e.g., Environmental & Permitting Specialist, Project Developer, Environmental Consultant).
• Deep working knowledge of state, federal, and local permitting processes (NEPA, CEQA, ESA, Section 404/401).
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex environmental concepts to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Be an environmental source of truth for regulatory compliance.
• Translate environmental knowledge into automated workflows and data models.
• Build and validate environmental playbooks and ensure QA of outputs.
• Work with AI engineers to embed environmental know-how into automated workflows.
• Manage multiple site reviews without dropping details.
• Curiosity and meticulousness in turning knowledge into reusable playbooks.
