The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation is seeking an Engineer Trainee / Assistant Engineer to perform regional duties in the Division of Water, including inspections of wastewater facilities, permit development, and grant support. Telecommuting may be discussed, with weathered terrain and outdoor work common.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology, or FE exam with one year of qualifying experience.

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or engineering technology.
• Proof of passing the FE Examination and one year of full-time engineering experience.

Mansioni

• Conduct site inspections at permitted municipal and industrial wastewater facilities and evaluate compliance.
• Prepare documents for compliance and enforcement actions for SPDES permits and water withdrawals.
• Review applications and develop SPDES and water withdrawal permits; review engineering plans and reports.
• Investigate complaints and support grant applications for WQIP and EPG; manage grant contracts.
