Job summary

The New York Department of Environmental Conservation seeks an Assistant Engineer (Environmental) / Engineer Trainee to perform inspections and monitoring at solid and hazardous waste facilities in Schenectady. You will evaluate permits, analyze environmental data, and assist with enforcement actions to ensure regulatory compliance.

Required: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field, FE exam, one year of qualifying engineering experience, and proficiency with Excel, Word, and

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required in engineering or engineering technology (environmental, civil, chemical, or related field).
Passing score on FE exam.
One year of full-time qualifying engineering experience in sanitary, public health, or environmental engineering.
Proficiency with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Valid driver's license and ability to work in remote areas and adverse weather conditions.
Experience with GIS is preferred.

Responsibilities

Conduct inspections and monitoring at solid and hazardous waste management facilities to ensure regulatory compliance.
Evaluate permits and engineering reports.
Analyze environmental data and investigate complaints.
Manage enforcement actions as needed.
