Job summary

The Department of Environmental Conservation invites applications for an Assistant Engineer (Environmental) / Engineer Trainee to oversee remedial program activities for Superfund sites, brownfields, and other contaminated sites in the Buffalo area.

Responsibilities include reviewing environmental documents, providing field oversight, negotiating scopes of work, and communicating with the public and regulated parties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology (or FE exam pass plus one year engineering experience).
• Pass the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Examination.
• Valid driver's license and ability to use state vehicles.
• Completion of 40-hour OSHA 1910.120 training and annual HAZWOPER certification.
• Ability to work in remote areas, adverse weather, difficult terrain, and respond to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Oversee remedial program activities for Superfund sites, brownfields, and other contaminated sites in Buffalo.
• Review environmental documents and provide field oversight.
• Negotiate scopes of work and communicate with the public and regulated parties.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and geologists to interpret data and develop remediation strategies.
