This role will be a part of the operations team and will assist the site Environmental Manager with supporting the Decatur Cogeneration, Wastewater Treatment, and North Water Treatment Plants**Main Responsibilities:*** Support the site Environmental Manager with monitoring each designated site's activities and implement actions to ensure compliance with all ADM, federal, state and local government regulations as related to environmental regulations and requirements.* Assist with the training of employees and contractors related to environmental programs.* Assist with the preparation of required reports and maintain all necessary records/documentation related to environmental programs for the facility.* Understand federal, state, and local environmental regulatory policies and monitor changes to environmental laws, regulations and guidelines.* Participate in and lead, where appropriate, all internal and external environmental audits or environmental agency visits and prioritize, assign and track the audit findings for completion.* Travel on occasion for meetings, training, etc.* Assist with maintaining and managing the site's EMS including, but not limited to policy, standardization, procedure development, incident investigations - root cause analyses, risk reduction efforts, inspections, audits and training.**Skills:*** Strong problem solving, diagnostic and analytical skills, with a results focused approach.* Strong leadership and change management skills.* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, acts as a reliable pro-active communicator.* Strong presentation and writing skills.* Sound project/program management skills.* Excellent organizational skills.**Capabilities:*** Open mindedness; forward thinking* Theoretical insight with pragmatic approach* Outgoing and energetic personality* Able to perform under pressure* Highly motivated self-starter**Experiences:*** Working with database software* Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems* Regulatory reporting* Universal and Hazardous Waste Management* Waste Water Treatment Sludge Management**Additional Qualifications:*** BS/BA degree in Engineering, Environmental Management, Environmental Sciences or other related program preferred.* Experience supporting environmental compliance programs, with emphasis on industrial boilers and/or water/wastewater operations.* 2+ years' experience with progressive responsibility preferably in a process industrial environment.* Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and management systems, including air water, and waste regulations and permitting.* Strong leadership skills with the ability to impact and influence others at all levels in the organization.* Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to organize and lead meetings.* Proven ability to work within a team based work environment.* Proven ability to assess risk and exercise sound judgment in making decisions.* Willingness to work flexible hours, occasionally other than normal business (day shift) hours to accommodate plant needs; i.e. training, inspections, etc. The Environmental specialist may be contacted for after hour emergencies.* Proficient in the use of software such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.* Must communicate effectively with maintenance, engineering and operations technical staff, legal counsel, and regulatory agency personnel.* This position requires the ability to work in a variety of conditions such as an office environment, indoors/outdoors, hot/cold weather as well as physical demands such as standing, kneeling, and sitting for prolonged periods of time, climbing stairs/ladders and the ability to work in confined spaces in a variety of environmental conditions.**Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):*** Consolidated Environmental KPI's* Consolidated Environmental scorecards* Personal goals achieved**Cross-Functional Interaction:*** Environmental leadership, Safety & Health leadership, and Quality leadership.* Leadership and personnel from the Technical and Operations Center of Excellence.* ADM Decatur Complex facility leadership and engineering personnel.Relocation Assistance is available with this position.ADM requires the successful completion of a background check.REF:108886BR**#IncludingYou**Diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging are cornerstones of ADM's efforts to continue innovating, driving growth, and delivering outstanding performance.
