Job summary

Mosaic is seeking a co-op Environmental Engineer to support ESG targets and permit projects within an industrial setting. You will collaborate cross-functionally with consultants, legal counsel, and operations staff, and help prepare permit applications while participating in on-site inspections.

You will conduct environmental field work, including groundwater sampling and testing, contribute to data collection and reporting, and provide technical training to aid ongoing compliance.

Job description

  • Work cross-functionally within the organization to support the company’s ESG targets while reviewing all aspects related to permitting projects
  • Work with various subject matter expert consultants, legal counsel, preparation of permit applications, and on-site inspections and support of the operations staff
  • Conduct a combination of environmental project management and engineering field work (e.g., groundwater sampling program, environmental inspections, environmental improvement projects, etc.)
  • Work on environmental, social and governance (ESG) related project management with a focus on our ESG targets, particularly the net zero roadmap modeling
  • Contribute to annual and ad hoc reporting activities; help assess global best practices; and collaborate with internal stakeholders for the collection of data and insights
  • Conduct facility environmental testing and sampling in accordance with strict regulatory and company procedures and permit drive schedules
  • Provide technical training to assist with on-going compliance which requires high attention to detail
  • Troubleshoots and manages environmental field sampling data using electronic database
  • Communicate with various levels of personnel throughout the organization, including management, plant operators, engineers (of various disciplines), tradespersons, and contractors
  • Participation in department meetings and meetings specific to the project assignment
  • Adhering to Mosaic’s mission, guiding principles and priorities, and key competencies
Requirements
  • Junior level or above by May 2027 pursuing a bachelor's in Environmental Engineering
  • 2.75 GPA or higher
  • Ability to function in an industrial chemical and mining environment
  • 1-2 years of experience volunteering, working with student/school organizations, or work is preferred
  • Previous internship or co-op experience is preferred
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work full time and be a student in standing at the time of the co-op/internship
  • Selected candidates will be required to successfully complete post-offer/pre-placement drug and alcohol screening, background check, physical, functional capacity examination
  • Basic computer skills are required
  • Experience working in a team environment is a must
  • Familiarity with an industrial environment is highly desirable
  • Effective verbal communication skills is a plus
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
