Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Geologist/Hydrogeologist to interpret subsurface data, develop site condition conclusions, and generate maps and cross-sections for environmental projects in Illinois. You will collaborate with engineers and scientists, oversee field investigations including boring work, and prepare detailed plans and reports for site assessments and remediation activities.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ related experience.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.
  • Certification in field of expertise preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and interpret subsurface field and sampling data, including soil and groundwater, to develop conclusions about environmental and geologic site conditions.
  • Generate subsurface maps and cross-sections.
  • Collaborate with engineering and environmental scientist staff on projects.
  • Oversee field monitoring and testing of soils, including boring investigations and soil type classification.
  • Interpret soil, bedrock, and groundwater elevation and quality data.
  • Prepare written plans and reports for site investigations, assessments, and remediation activities.
  • Support construction projects involving earthwork and structural foundations.
  • Conduct well design and sampling, environmental assessments, Phase I/II site assessments, and seismic risk assessments.
  • Follow safety rules and participate in pre-task planning.
  • Maintain quality standards on projects.
  • Conduct site testing and make recommendations for systems design on smaller projects.
  • Perform site visits, field observations, and field data collection.
  • Direct and supervise field staff performing sampling, testing, data collection, and documentation.
  • Develop written client proposals for senior-level approval.
  • Evaluate moderately complex laboratory and field data and compile written reports.
  • Participate in client meetings and project communications.
  • Oversee work performed by lower-level Geologists/Hydrogeologists
