Job summary

LVI Associates in Minnesota is seeking an Environmental Engineer II to provide environmental engineering, compliance, and project support across energy and infrastructure initiatives.

The role involves permitting, regulatory compliance, data analysis, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to support critical projects in the region.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 2-5+ years of engineering, environmental, utility, industrial, consulting, or related experience.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting processes, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience preparing technical reports, regulatory documentation, or engineering analyses.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to support field and office-based project activities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop engineering plans and specifications that incorporate environmental and regulatory requirements, including setbacks, buffers, grading, and design standards
  • Support the development, revision, and implementation of environmental compliance plans and programs
  • Prepare and submit environmental reports and regulatory documentation to state and federal agencies
  • Analyze environmental and operational data to identify trends and support engineering and compliance decisions
  • Assist with environmental permitting efforts, permit applications, and agency coordination activities
  • Support infrastructure, construction, and environmental improvement projects from planning through implementation
  • Evaluate environmental impacts on project costs, schedules, and constructability considerations
  • Maintain knowledge of environmental regulations and emerging industry requirements while supporting compliance strategies
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure project success
  • Communicate technical findings and recommendations to project teams, leadership, and external partners

Position Overview

The Environmental Engineer II will provide environmental engineering, compliance, and project support across a broad range of energy and infrastructure initiatives. This position combines environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, engineering analysis, project development, and stakeholder coordination responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will have experience with environmental regulations, permitting, engineering design principles, and technical problem-solving, along with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and support critical operational projects.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • 2-5+ years of engineering, environmental, utility, industrial, consulting, or related experience
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting processes, and compliance requirements

Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
  • Experience supporting energy, utility, environmental, industrial, or infrastructure projects
  • Working knowledge of environmental compliance programs, stormwater management, SPCC plans, or environmental permitting
  • Experience coordinating with regulatory agencies and supporting environmental reporting efforts
  • Project coordination or project management experience within engineering or environmental settings
