Job summary

PPG in Circleville, Ohio is seeking an Environmental Engineer to drive compliance, safety and sustainability. You will provide direction on environmental, health and safety (EHS) initiatives and work with manufacturing, corporate EHS and engineering to deliver a unified message on regulatory adherence.

Responsibilities include ensuring conformity with Federal, State and Local environmental laws, managing CAA/CWA/EPCRA permits, reporting, and developing leading indicators to improve energy, water

Qualifications

  • BS in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience with CAA, CWA, and EPCRA permits and reporting.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State, Local and PPG environmental regulations and policies.
  • Manage CAA, CWA and EPCRA permits including reporting and documentation.
  • Develop leading indicators to improve sustainability metrics (energy, water, waste).
  • Provide leadership and coaching to motivate change across the site.
  • Collaborate with all levels of the organization on EHS initiatives.

As an Environmental Engineer, you will provide direction, and training to ensure a safe and healthful workplace for the PPG associates. You will ensure compliance with applicable environmental, safety, and health laws and regulations. You will have close interaction with all levels of the manufacturing, corporate Environment, Health and Safety (EHS), technical and engineering organizations to provide a unified EHS message. You will sit onsite and report to the EHS manager.

Main Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State, Local and PPG environmental regulations and policies.
  • Clean Air Act (CAA) Title V Operating Permits, New Source Review, and Minor Source permits compliance; including emissions reporting and compliance documentation.
  • CAA Maximum Achievable Control Technology (MACT) standards, including the Miscellaneous Organic Chemicals (MON) MACT and the Miscellaneous Coatings Manufacturing (MCM) MACT standards reporting and compliance documentation.
  • Manage the Clean Water Act (CWA) National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) water permits (Industrial and Stormwater).
  • CWA Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) plan inspections and management.
  • Resource Recovery and Conservation Act (RCRA) and state-level Waste Management Program (Hazardous, Non-Hazardous, Universal) for both Large and Small Quantity Generators; developing and maintaining emergency response and contingency plans.
  • Compliance with ISO14001 requirements.
  • Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know (EPCRA) Reporting consisting of SARA 312 (Tier II) and SARA 313 (Toxic Release Inventory).
  • Participate in our facilities Emergency Response Teams (ERT).
  • Develop leading indicators that improve sustainability metrics (energy, water, waste) and spill incidents.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to motivate change.
  • Must have a broad understanding of environmental, health and safety rules and regulations.
  • Collaborate with all levels of the organization.
Qualifications
  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or a related field required.
  • 5+ years of experience with CAA, CWA, and EPCRA permits and reporting.
  • 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must have a broad understanding of environmental, health and safety rules and regulations.
