Job summary

City of Memphis invites applications for an Environmental Enforcement Officer. Under general supervision, you investigate illegal dumping, enforce litter and waste regulations, issue citations, conduct field inspections of storm water and sewage areas, and prepare clear reports using City guidelines.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent with eight years of law enforcement or codes inspection experience; a college degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• High school diploma or equivalent with eight (8) years’ experience in law enforcement or codes inspection; college coursework preferred.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Investigate illegal dumping and littering across city sites.
• Issue littering citations as needed.
• Inspect storm water and sewer areas for compliance with City Ordinances.
• Prepare daily and monthly reports using city-approved computer applications.
