Job summary

Eastern Research Group, Inc. (ERG) seeks a data-focused environmental scientist to support environmental monitoring, laboratory, and field research activities in North Carolina.

The role emphasizes processing data with R, Python, or MATLAB and applying robust statistical analyses. You will collect, organize, and interpret large datasets, evaluate sensor data from FRM/FEM, and contribute to technical reports and manuscripts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, atmospheric science, chemistry, physics, biological sciences, data science, or a related field
• Experience troubleshooting environmental monitoring systems and instrumentation
• Experience using R, Python, MATLAB for data processing and analysis
• Ability to work with large datasets and perform statistical analyses

Responsibilities

• Support environmental monitoring, laboratory, and field research activities
• Conduct testing and performance evaluations of air-quality sensors and environmental monitoring instrumentation
• Collect, organize, manage, analyze, and interpret environmental data
• Assist with the development and implementation of experimental protocols and research studies
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, manuscripts, and other project documentation
• Perform statistical analyses and evaluate data quality, accuracy, and completeness
• Support the calibration, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of environmental monitoring equipment
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, technicians, and project managers to achieve project objectives and deliver high quality results
