Cindavi is seeking an Environmental Coordinator for our Montpelier, IA steel mill. The role blends field walkthroughs with data, reporting, and permits to keep operations compliant. You’ll start focused on air emissions and expand to hazardous waste and water compliance as you learn the site.

The position is on-site, typically 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with occasional after-hours on-call and about two to four weeks of travel per year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental science, natural science, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or related field.
• 3-5+ years of environmental regulatory compliance experience; five or more years preferred.
• Experience with environmental data, spreadsheets, and agency reporting portals; air permitting or emissions reporting experience is valuable.

Responsibilities

• Walk the facility regularly with operations and engineering to address issues.

Summary of Role:

Environmental compliance is not a desk-only job here. At our Montpelier, Iowa steel mill, you'll split your time roughly evenly between facility walkthroughs and the data, reporting, and permits that keep a complex operation on track. We're hiring an Environmental Coordinator who can spot issues, work alongside operations, and turn regulatory requirements into practical action. You'll start with air emissions, then broaden into hazardous waste and water compliance as you learn the site.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Walk the facility regularly, partner with operations and engineering, and address potential environmental issues before they escalated.
• Support air-permit compliance and emissions reporting, our highest-priority environmental focus.
• Track hazardous-waste documentation and support water-related permitting, monitoring, and reporting.
• Gather inspection and sampling data, maintain accurate records, and help prepare reports for regulatory agencies.
• Help maintain our ISO 14001 environmental management system through training, audits, corrective actions, and incident response.

Education and Experience:

• A bachelor's degree in environmental science, natural science, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field.
• 3-5+ years of relevant environmental regulatory compliance experience; five or more years is preferred.
• Confidence working with environmental data, spreadsheets, and agency reporting portals; air permitting or emissions reporting experience is especially valuable.
• The willingness to walk an active industrial site, climb stairs, work at heights, and spend time outdoors in Iowa weather.
• Experience in manufacturing, hazardous waste, water compliance, or ISO 14001 is a plus, not a requirement across every area.

The opportunity: This is a fully on-site, Monday-Friday position, generally 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with limited schedule flexibility, possible after-hours on-call needs, and roughly two to four weeks of travel per year. Base salary is $70,000-$85,000, plus eligibility for an administrative bonus that has typically ranged from 10%-15% annually and is paid each pay period. Benefits start at hire and include health coverage, a 5% employer 401(k) match, profit sharing, 10 paid holidays, and tuition reimbursement. Relocation support is available.
