Gateway Sourcing is partnering with a well-established industrial manufacturer to identify an Environmental Coordinator to join a lean, high-impact environmental team.

This role offers the opportunity to step into plant-level ownership of environmental compliance, working directly with operations while supporting a multi-site footprint across North America.

You will be part of a three-person environmental team consisting of an Environmental Manager, Environmental Specialist, and this role.

ROLE SUMMARY

This position is responsible for managing and supporting environmental compliance programs, with a strong emphasis on air permitting, as well as water and hazardous waste.

The role operates in a hybrid plant + corporate environment (approximately 50/50) and includes exposure to active industrial operations.

This position was previously held by the current Environmental Manager and represents a key succession and growth role within the organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage and maintain environmental permits, with emphasis on:
    • Air emissions (primary focus)
    • Water discharge
    • Hazardous waste
  • Oversee permit renewals and modifications related to operational changes
  • Prepare and manage environmental reporting and documentation, including:
    • Emissions data
    • Regulatory submissions
    • Incident and spill reporting
  • Serve as a key point of contact for environmental compliance at the facility
  • Support environmental compliance across three additional locations in the US and Canada.
  • Participate in environmental incident response and documentation
  • Maintain and support ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS)
    • Auditor experience is a plus
  • Collaborate closely with operations, engineering, and corporate environmental leadership
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and compliance reviews
TEAM STRUCTURE
  • Reports to: Environmental Manager
  • Works alongside: Environmental Specialist (early-career)
  • Supported by: Corporate Environmental Team (Mobile, AL)
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Exposure to industrial conditions including:
    • Heat, noise, dust, and elevated areas
    • Climbing stairs and navigating catwalks (fear of heights may not work well for that)
TRAVEL
  • Approximately 6–7 trips per year
  • Includes travel to U.S. and Canada facilities and industry events
  • Must have or be able to obtain a valid passport
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
  • Environmental Engineering
  • Civil or Mechanical Engineering (with environmental experience)
  • Minimum 3+ years of environmental compliance experience, including:
    • Air permitting (strongly preferred)
    • Regulatory reporting and documentation
  • Experience in industrial or manufacturing environments
Preferred:
  • ISO 14001 experience (auditing a plus)
  • Experience with multi-site environmental support
