A contractor would be successful in this role if they are accustomed to taking initiative and solving problems, can work effectively without being micromanaged, are comfortable receiving constructive feedback, can speak clearly and professionally to clients and other team members, can effectively and professionally leverage soft power to influence, enquire of, and/or guide those who don’t report to them (ie, other contractors, clients, state representatives, etc.), can produce written reports that are ‘client ready’ and don’t require further edits or administrative clean-up, and treat others with professionalism and respect. In addition, those who approach this role with an eye for new business opportunities and business development would be highly valued.

Work Environment: Work from home (in Fort Collins or Northern CO) with client travel as needed.

  • Travel is variable by project, typically within Northern Colorado.
  • As a contractor, travel can typically be scheduled around other work and personal obligations.

What NIS Offers:

  • Flexible work environment. Our team loves being able to set their own schedule, whether that means getting away for an afternoon bike ride, taking a weekday ski day, or picking up the kids from school.
  • Support you need to get the job done. We offer contractors a monthly admin stipend to cover expenses like software, paper, and ink. We reimburse at $0.75/mile, over the federal mileage rate. We furnish branded gear for all the seasons at no cost to you. NIS will consider paying for additional certifications, trainings, and attendance at marketing events on a case by case basis.
  • Positive team culture. Work with great people who believe that if you have to work, then work should be enjoyable. We respect that everyone has a life outside of work.
  • Career growth. As a small company there is ample opportunity to work closely with company leadership, drive your own learning, and take on strategic projects related to business operations and development.

We are happy to speak with serious, qualified candidates who would like to learn more about transition from employee to contract work.
