Job summary

Heidelberg Materials is seeking an Environmental Intern to support compliance, sustainability, and operational excellence at our Harleyville, SC facility. This internship offers hands-on experience in environmental management within an industrial setting.

You will assist with inspections, data collection, reporting, and audits while collaborating with operations teams on waste reduction and regulatory best practices. The role is onsite and mentored by environmental and leadership teams.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field.
• Demonstrated interest in environmental compliance, stewardship, and sustainability practices.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn new systems and processes.

Responsibilities

• Support environmental compliance activities, inspections, and recordkeeping processes.
• Assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting related to environmental performance.
• Participate in site audits and help identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with operations teams on sustainability and waste reduction initiatives.
• Contribute to special environmental projects while gaining exposure to regulatory requirements and best practices.
