Job summary

Heidelberg Materials North America is seeking an Environmental Intern to support regulatory compliance, sustainability initiatives, and environmental stewardship across aggregates and hot mix asphalt operations. This hands-on internship provides exposure to environmental programs while working with professionals at multiple locations.

You will gain experience in data collection, reporting, inspections, and project work, collaborating with operations, safety, and maintenance teams.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Natural Resources, Geology, or a related field.
• Must have completed at least sophomore year.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn data management systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist with environmental compliance activities, inspections, audits, and documentation across aggregates and hot mix asphalt operations.
• Support environmental data collection, analysis, reporting, and recordkeeping related to permits, regulatory requirements, and sustainability initiatives.
• Partner with operations teams to identify opportunities for environmental improvements and best practices.
• Participate in site visits and field assessments to monitor environmental performance and support corrective actions.
• Contribute to environmental projects focused on compliance, resource conservation, reclamation, emissions reduction, or operational efficiency.
