Job summary

WM is seeking a Landfill Operations Supervisor I/Environmental Compliance Supervisor on-site. The role supervises daily landfill operations, staff, contractors, and consultants, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include coordinating workflow, reviewing operations, supervising maintenance, collecting readings, and evaluating personnel performance. A relevant background in civil/environmental fields is preferred, with an emphasis on safety and regulatory knowledge.

I. Job Summary: Landfill Operations Supervisor I/Environmental Compliance Supervisor

Supervises daily landfill operations and landfill staff, contractors, and consultants.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervises landfill staff, contractors, and consultants and reviews and evaluates work to ensure quality, timeliness and ensures quality control in adherence to policies and procedures.
• Coordinates workflow and assignments toward the achievement of operational goals.
• Supervises and monitors daily landfill operations, and reviews and controls implementation of safety regulations and company policies and procedures.
• Coordinates repairs, maintenance, and inspections.
• Collects weekly and/or monthly readings. Creates and submits records and reports.
• Oversees personnel needs of the landfill including coaching, training, and evaluating performance.

III. Qualifications

A. Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D (accredited).
• 1 year to three (3) years of previous relevant experience (in addition to education requirement).

B. Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Sciences or equivalent technical degree and one (1) three (3) years of landfill O&M, Landfill construction or equivalent environmental field experiences are preferred.
• Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers, SCADA and/or automation/control systems, equipment operating, health, safety and environmental regulations knowledge, and supervisory experience is beneficial.

Field: This job operates in both inside garage, shop or gas plant conditions as well as in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity.

Pay

The expected salary range for this on-site position is $68,000 - $75,000. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
