Associate Consultant | Connecting top tier professionals in the renewable energy, engineering, and solar sectors.

We are working closely with a fast-growing renewable energy developer to identify an experienced Environmental Compliance Supervisor to oversee compliance activities across operational and construction projects in California and beyond.

This is a full-time, hybrid opportunity ideal for someone with a strong understanding of environmental regulations, air quality and hazardous materials programs, and a passion for driving environmental stewardship in clean energy development.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance, the Environmental Compliance Supervisor will be responsible for managing environmental and air compliance across a diverse portfolio of renewable energy projects. You will lead program implementation, agency interaction, consultant oversight, and internal training, while ensuring continued compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

This is a hybrid role, with a mix of remote work and regular travel to project sites throughout Southern California (Riverside, San Bernardino, Kern, Los Angeles, and San Diego Counties). Occasional travel to projects in Texas and New York may also be required. Candidates must be based in California and preferably within driving distance to the project locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee environmental compliance programs including air pollution control, hazardous materials, stormwater, SPCC, and wildlife protection
  • Serve as primary point of contact for federal, state, and local environmental agencies
  • Ensure permit conditions are understood, tracked, and adhered to from construction through operations
  • Lead emergency response planning and incident response trainings (ICS/tabletop exercises)
  • Manage consultants, review proposals, and ensure effective permit monitoring
  • Maintain accurate and organized compliance documentation
  • Support and mentor junior staff and provide performance feedback and development planning
  • Prepare and manage annual environmental budgets and long-term planning

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • 4–7 years of experience in environmental compliance, with direct exposure to the energy or infrastructure sector
  • 2–3 years of supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Must reside in California (Southern California preferred)
  • Valid CA driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites
  • Direct experience with inspections involving environmental regulators (required)
  • Familiarity with CUPA programs, hazardous materials/waste management, SPCC rule, and HAZMAT standards (required)
  • Experience working with agencies such as EPA, CalEPA, CARB, DTSC, SWRCB, and CUPAs
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in environmental science, engineering, or a related field
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of renewable energy projects (preferred but not required)
  • Familiarity with Environmental Site Assessments, incident reporting, and emergency response planning (preferred)

Why This Role?

  • Contribute directly to the success and compliance of utility-scale renewable energy projects
  • Work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment
  • Join a company committed to sustainability, innovation, and regulatory excellence
  • Enjoy a flexible hybrid schedule with travel reimbursements
  • Play a key leadership role with long-term career growth potential

If you are a detail-oriented environmental professional looking to make an impact in the renewable energy space, we want to hear from you.
