Job summary

The City of Dallas seeks an Environmental Specialist II to join its Environmental Compliance team, conducting inspections, investigations, and sampling to ensure municipal compliance with environmental laws. Work involves field duties, report preparation, and coordination with multiple departments.

Under minimal supervision, you will evaluate facilities, respond to spills, and contribute to continuous education and permit compliance for water, storm, and sewer programs.

Qualifications

• High School or GED with science background.
• Three years of hands-on environmental inspection experience.
• 40-hour HAZWOPER certification within probationary period.
• CESCP/QCIS certifications preferred in Stormwater Neighborhood division or Water Quality license in appropriate division.

Responsibilities

• Provides mid-level expertise on complex environmental evaluations, inspections, and reviews city services and utilities.
• Monitors and provides knowledge-based expertise for cleaning spills and other hazardous situations.
• Inspects public and private sites/facilities for environmental compliance and communicates issues to stakeholders.
• Prepares and files extensive reports on inspection activities and findings.
• Applies environmental policies and provides training to staff.
