Job summary

The incumbent, under the supervision of the Assistant Solid Waste Manager / Landfill Engineer, will complete environmental permit and regulatory requirements at the Solid Waste Facility including stormwater, greenhouse gas, Title V air emission, Research Development and Demonstration, surface water and groundwater and assists with Recycling/Household Hazardous Waste programs.

Qualifications

• BS in chemistry, biology, engineering, environmental sciences or related field.
• 4 years field and office experience in permit and environmental requirements.
• 2+ years in analysis, testing equipment, and data interpretation.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and insurability per Borough rules.
• Proficient with PCs and report preparation.

Responsibilities

• Complete and submit environmental permits and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with consultants; review submittals and responses.
• Manage Research Development & Demonstration permits with DEC involvement.
• Oversee automobile recycling program requirements.
• Support Household Hazardous Waste facility operations.
• Track expenditures and budgets for environmental contracts.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Serve as environmental contact for inquiries.
• Daily checks of facility and leachate system for compliance.
• Observe and report environmental, leachate, and safety conditions.
• Conduct daily and quarterly Gas Monitoring; maintain records.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
