Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics, geology, or engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Two years of professional job-related experience in environmental protection for Specialist 2; or one year at Specialist 1; or equivalent.
• Three years of professional job-related experience for Specialist 3; or one year at Specialist 2 or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate programs for compliance with environmental laws, rules, and regulations and recommend monitoring and corrective action.
• Collect samples, investigate complaints, provide environmental education and technical assistance.
• Perform inspections, interviews, technical reviews and draft enforcement actions as needed.
• Review permit applications against permit requirements and regulations; field work and overnight travel may be required.
