Job summary

The City of Redding is seeking an Environmental Compliance Manager to oversee the Environmental Management Division within Public Works. The role involves ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws, managing the Storm Water Management Program, and supervising staff.

Responsibilities include preparing CEQA/NEPA documents, coordinating with agencies on permits, conducting regulatory reviews, and representing the City in external groups.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in environmental science, environmental engineering, biology, geology, hydrology, engineering or a closely related field.
  • At least four (4) years of progressively responsible experience managing environmental compliance programs for a public agency or private firm with supervisory/project management responsibility.
  • Possession of the appropriate California driver’s license, or ability to acquire one within ten days of appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and/or prepare negative declarations, exemptions, CEQA/NEPA documents for City projects.
  • Prepare environmental permit applications for state and federal agencies and regulatory bodies.
  • Perform legislative review and advocacy on environmental/compliance issues and provide recommendations.
