Job summary

The role supports sustainability initiatives, audits, and training, acting as a liaison with corporate EHS and internal teams to meet regulatory requirements and drive environmental excellence.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related technical discipline from an accredited university or college.
• Experience: Professional experience in environmental compliance, specifically managing hazardous waste programs and environmental permits in an industrial or laboratory setting.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of relevant environmental regulations (e.g., RCRA, CWA, CAA in the U.S. and equivalent provincial/federal environmental frameworks in Quebec/Canada).
• Data Management: Proficiency in using EHS management software, specifically Benchmark Gensuite, to track documentation, compliance, and reporting metrics.
• Analytical Ability: Ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions and translate them into clear, actionable operational procedures for research teams.

Responsibilities

• Ensure facility-wide compliance with environmental regulations across all sites, including the NYS air permit for the Malta facility and waste management oversight in Longueuil and other sites.
• Oversee hazardous waste management from generation to disposal with accurate manifests and documentation.
• Maintain and test facility contingency plans, ensuring readiness for environmental incidents.
• Conduct environmental compliance audits and surveys of laboratories to identify risks and ensure proper chemical storage/labeling.
• Develop and implement environmental training programs and communicate compliance requirements to teams.
• Serve as a primary contact for GE Vernova corporate EHS and provide reports and data as required.
• Support GHG reporting and sustainability initiatives to reduce the environmental footprint of research operations.
