City of Midland, TX is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer to inspect properties for code violations and enforce environmental and municipal regulations. You will respond to citizen inquiries, enter inspection data, and support the Solid Waste Department as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma, a Texas Class B CDL, and progress toward a Texas Code Enforcement Officer certificate within two years. You may manage lot-clearing contracts and assist with regulatory research.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand materials including City Ordinances, professional literature, plans, correspondence, and manuals.
• Ability to write reports and correspondence.
• Skills in math and to communicate both orally and in writing.
• Knowledge of office equipment including personal computer.

Responsabilités

• Performs inspections to ensure compliance with municipal ordinances, legal inspections, and regulations.
• Visually inspects properties for code violations as initiated by a complaint or routine inspection.
• Enters data into the computer to generate notices of violations to property owners or to record inspections.
• Responds to citizen calls regarding code violations and regulations.
• Provides staff support to the Solid Waste Department and other departments as directed.
• Researches planned districts, nonconforming uses, plats and illegal uses of property.
• Manages city contracts for the clearing of lots, including bidding, contracts, and payments.
• Conducts inspections to ensure environmental compliance in response to complaints.
