Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Class B Texas Commercial Driver's License required.
• Must obtain Texas Registered Code Enforcement Officer certificate within two years of employment.

Responsibilities

• Visually inspects properties for code violations and responds to complaints or routine inspections.
• Enters data to generate notices of violations and to record inspections.
• Communicates with citizens, developers and staff about applicable codes and regulations.
• Provides staff support to the Solid Waste Department and other departments as directed.
• Researches planned districts, nonconforming uses and illegal uses of property for enforcement purposes.
• Manages city contracts related to lot clearing, including bids, contracts and payments to contractors.
• Conducts inspections to ensure compliance with environmental requirements in response to complaints.
• Gives information to the public and contractors about disposal of regulated materials.
• Conducts field inspections of junk yards, vacant lots and grease traps for code compliance.
• Supervises citizens performing community service hours.
• Performs related duties as required.
